The Power Electronics laboratory
involves experiments related to power semiconductor devices’
characteristics and applications. The laboratory is well
equipped with experimental trainer units for device
characteristics, controlled, rectifiers, and commutations
circuit trainers, choppers, inverters and motor control
setups.
The
laboratory is well equipped with various test and
measurement instruments like cathode ray oscilloscope, power
supply, function generator and digital multi meters.

Courses: Electronic Measurement Techniques
Lab Area: 100.05 Sq.m
Electronic Measurement
The laboratory is well equipped with the necessary transducers and
instrumentation trainers. This includes PT-100, RTD, thermocouple, thermistor,
strain gauge, load cell, linear variable differential Transformer and
proximity sensors. Application of signal conditioning circuits for above
measurements are demonstrated to the students on bread board, such as current to
voltage converter, bridge network, instrumentation amplifier and filters.
Experiments related to D\A converter of type R/2R ladder network and binary
weighted resistor n/w are carried out to show concepts used in IC based D\A
converter.
The control laboratory is well equipped with various experimental trainer units.
The trainers include feedback components such as potentiometers and synchros, dc
servomotor and ac servomotor trainer, linear system simulator, dc speed control
system, dc position control system, temperature control system, PID controller
trainer, light intensity control trainer, stepper motor control trainer, digital
control trainer, compensator design setup, relay control system .The laboratory
sessions are also supported by MATLAB and SIMULINK of Mathworks Corporation for
analysis of control system. |

Students selects the project and under the supervision of faculty members and
execute the same over a period of two semesters.
Basic VLSI Design
In Basic VLSI Design course, students implement the logic related
to digital circuit design in VHDL (Very High Speed Integrated Circuits Hardware
Description Language) in software and then implement it on Kit using suitable
data cables and peripherals like JTAG. The laboratory contains the
implementation of different logic gates, 4:1 multiplexer, 4:1 MUX using
tri-state buffers, full adder / substractor, odd-parity generator and checker,
flip flops, BCD-EXCESS 3 code conversion, Linear Feedback Shift Register and
more digital ckts in VHDL code and implementation on kit using Xlinx and Altera

Digital Signal Processing
For the course on digital signal processing various signal
processing operations are performed using MATLAB® with
signal processing toolbox. Emulations can be done using DSP
Starter Kit which are TMS320C5416,TMS320C6711 and
TMS320C6713. This lab is equipped with 40 computers and 1
server. Embedded tool kit of Labview 8.0 is used to process
various digital signals.
Digital Image Processing
This course
involves experiments for final year students on digital
image processing. The course is a challenging mixture of
mathematical theory and practical implementation issues. In
practical session various algorithms such as negative of an
image, arithmetic and logical operators , mirror of an image
, thresolding of an image , histogram processing and
histogram equalization ,low pass filter, high pass filter
,median filter are implemented in C language.
This laboratory has OPTSIM 5.0 6 users software used for
simulation of advance optical network & components.
This laboratory has Spice Creator 10 users software for
Digital, Analog & mixed schematic Design & Circuit
Simulations.
This laboratory has Circuit Creator 10 users software for
schematic capture & PCB design & Layout

reference.
