The department is offering two post graduate courses from July’ 2012.
1. ME (CAD/CAM)
Computer Aided Design (CAD) involves the use of computer hardware and graphics software to generate design drawings. Modern CAD equipment enables the designer to quickly produce very accurate and realistic images of products to be manufactured.
Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is a system of automatically producing finished products by using computer controlled production machines. CAD and CAM work together in that the digital model generated in CAD is inputted to the CAM software package. The CAM software needs to know the physical shape of the product (CAD model) before it can compose a proper set of fabrication instructions to a production machine.
To explore the current advancement in the areas of computer aided Design and manufacturing, the department is offering a post graduate course in CAD/CAM. The static as well as dynamic product designing have been covered under the effect of various modal parameters like strength, fracture, creep, thermal stress and manufacturing processes.
The Master of Engineering (M.E) CAD /CAM program is focused to prepare graduate students in the multi-disciplinary profession on computer aided design and manufacturing for the challenges and opportunities that abound in modern technology and society. The emphasis is on mathematical modeling and the application of quantitative techniques associated with optimization, probability and statistics to the design and manufacturing of the systems.
2. ME (Thermal Engineering)
The post graduate course in Thermal Engineering is in great demand in the global arena. Being the core subject of mechanical engineering, the candidate who completes PG with thermal Engineering can compete easily in the recruitment of scientist in the Central government organization like DRDO, ISRO, and BHEL and in many reputed state government as well a private concerns.
This programme offers a profound knowledge and training in various facets of design, manufacture, testing, control and evaluation for Thermal Equipments and Systems. The emphasis is given on exploring the ways for improving the renewable energy sources. To find the innovative solutions for building next generation cooling designs, the challenges like compactness, cost-effectiveness and adaptability to fit different system designs are deemed on the top of the design priorities.
Post Graduate Intake: 24 seats in each course.
The department has adopted latest teaching learning processes like e-learning, power point presentations, seminars, Expert Lectures from Industry Personnel etc.

A team of highly qualified, experienced and committed faculty members train the students in academics, ethical values and personality development.
All faculty members are engaged in active research and teaching. A good number of faculty members have also taken up leadership in the various administrative activities of the institute.
Faculty members have been publishing and presenting research papers in the various refereed International/ National journals and conferences.
The Department is also actively involved in placement of the students through Campus Interviews. The leading organizations including L&T, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Alstom, Inox Ltd., Vardhman Chemical, Taegu Tec. etc. have recruited the students through campus interviews.
The students of Mechanical Department regularly organize various technical & extra curricular events under Society of Mechanical Engineering Students Association (SME).
To avail the information regarding industrial issues, the Department arranges regular industrial visits/ trainings.
